Green tea comes from the Camellia Sinesis tea plant, like all true teas. What makes tea green tea different is the way it is processed. Unlike black teas or oolong teas it goes through either a pan firing or steam process rather than oxidizing the tea. This leaves the tea a beautiful green color.
