Tea is the second most-drunk beverage on earth, and it has been studied about as long as it has been drunk. The findings are striking. They are also more careful than the internet usually admits.
In 2022, researchers who had followed roughly half a million adults in the United Kingdom for more than a decade published their results in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Among that group, people who drank two or more cups of black tea a day had a 9% to 13% lower risk of death during the study period than people who drank none, including lower rates of death from cardiovascular disease. The association held whether or not people added milk or sugar, whatever temperature they drank it at, and regardless of how well they tolerated caffeine. Harvard Health notes that black tea is rich in plant compounds called theaflavins, the polyphenols researchers point to when they write about it.
The honest caveat, which the authors state themselves: the study was observational. It can show that tea drinking and longer life turned up together in the same people. It cannot show that the tea is what caused it. Tea drinkers may differ from non-tea-drinkers in a hundred other ways.
So we are not going to tell you what our tea will do for you, because nobody has studied our tea, and we would be making it up. What we can tell you is what is in it.
