Our Tea Sachets

At TWT, we love to talk about our tea sachets. They’re ready-to-steep, convenient to store, biodegradable, plastic-free, and preserve the full-body and sophisticated flavor profiles of the whole leaf tea and herbs you would get from steeping loose-leaf tea.

Many tea-drinkers don’t have time to deal with the paraphernalia necessary to brew loose-leaf tea, so we decided to bag all of our tea in premium tea pyramid sachets. These pyramid-shaped bags are bigger than a normal tea bag, and they must be bigger because they contain whole leaf tea and herbs (no fannings) –exactly what you would find in a loose-leaf tea package. The pyramid shape allows for the water to flow more efficiently around the tea leaves, allowing the tea leaves to expand and release their full flavor profiles, which is not possible with traditional tea bags.

The same way as a traditional tea bag. Simply remove the tea sachet from the package, and steep the sachet according to the steeping guidelines for your particular tea type. And once you’re done steeping, enjoy!

Yes, all of our tea sachets are biodegradable and plastic-free. 

Our tea sachets are made from corn starch, which is biodegradable, carbon-neutral, and edible (although we do not advise you eat the tea sachet!).

Traditional tea bags are smaller than tea sachets and contain broken leaves and fannings (i.e., small particles of tea leaf). Whole tea leaves cannot be used in traditional tea bags because of the smaller size profile of the tea bag. On the other hand, tea sachets are bigger and shaped like a pyramid, which allows room for whole leaves and herbs to be packaged inside the sachet, and allows these whole leaves and herbs to unfurl completely. This provides for bolder and more delectable flavors in the tea sachet as compared to a traditional tea bag. All of TWT’s tea is packaged in premium tea sachets so that you can enjoy the best flavors of our tea blends without sacrificing the convenience of a tea bag.

Each tea sachet holds 2 grams of tea, which is an optimal amount for steeping in a 8 oz. cup. Many customers report that they are able to re-steep their tea sachet another 2 or 3 times before the flavors begin to wane, so each tea sachet is usually good for at least 2 cups.
